You Shall Have In Abundance
“For unto everyone that hath shall be given, and he shall have
abundance; but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath”
– Matthew 25:29
‘You are more prone to abundant living when you ask than when you don’t!’
As young struggling bachelor, I wouldn’t say I had much appeal to ladies that mattered even among those in my social class but one thing I can say was I knew how to ask.
So a mutual friend introduced me to this beautiful young spinster who had another more affording young man as a prospect but who for whatever reason decided to take his time instead of popping the big question.
I chanced in on the fact on the ground and made a deft move once I saw the high value this lady portends. Having won my heart completely, I knew the wisest thing, regardless of my state, was to ask. And ask I did… That was almost 3 decades ago and now we have three amazing kids and a great ministry to booth.
Guess who lost out? My ‘competitor’ who would not ask her out despite having been an acquaintance with the ravishing young lady for at least two years before I ever met her. He loved her but he never asked.
The lesson is your chances of getting the best things out of life are much higher if you are bold enough to ask.
Included in the blueprint of prayer proffered by Jesus Christ himself is
“Give us today our daily bread.” (Matthew 6:10)
So why not ask away…!
Dear Lord, just as you have taught me. I ask for daily bread and even bigger opportunities for a great life and career. And please God, may I also ask that while you are at it, make it a very abundant supply! In Jesus Name I ask. Amen.
