Yield To The Holy Spirit
“Do not get drunk with wine, for that is wickedness (corruption, stupidity), but be filled with the [Holy] Spirit and constantly guided by Him.”
– Ephesians 5:18 (AMP)
Have you ever seen these warnings: ‘If you drink, don’t drive’, another reads; ‘Drink Responsibly’, not suitable for children…
Why all this warning? Because the truth is that alcoholic beverages intoxicate. It has the power to control and influence reasoning by taking over the senses.
Little wonder Apostle Paul likened being filled with the Holy Spirit to being drunk with wine.
God wants his children to live a certain type of life. One that is effective, abundant and impactful. He has provided the resources in abundance to live such a life, but the flesh will always bring limitation.
A life totally based on comfort, fun, ease and acting out its own selfish goals and desires will not manifest the fullness of God’s power.
A life offered as a living sacrifice where flesh is always on the altar before God will enjoy the divine glory.
Examine carefully the description of Peter in Acts 4:8, “Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them….”
The reference here clearly tells us the source of his powerful life.
It wasn’t his experience, neither was it his family name or background. It was not his educational qualification, neither was it his eloquence. It was the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
This was not a prayer meeting, nor a crusade ground. It was a court-house, what you might call a secular place or marketplace, and even at the hearing, he needed the Holy Spirit.
If he was empty of the Divine Spirit of grace and truth what could he, an “under-educated” fisherman, have said in that courtroom?
Scripture commands you to be “filled with the Holy Spirit” (Eph 5:18). This is the age and dispensation of the Holy Spirit! Human experience and logic will fail in this season.
So thirst more and more after the Holy Spirit. This is His moment on earth. The Age of The Father and The Son are now rolled up into this amazing and miraculous season of the Holy Spirit.
Don’t stay aloof, Don’t labor in vain, Yield to the Holy Spirit.
Dear Holy Spirit, I yield myself to you. Break me, make me, mold me, fill me. Take over my sight and sound. Guide me every step of the way into walking in the will of God. More and more of you in my life I ask in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.
