Where Happiness Is Found

Make me walk along the path of Your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.
— Psalm 119:35

‘True happiness… is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.’
– Helen Keller

Maybe the light flashed green on your dreams, so you’ve pressed your foot on the gas pedal as hard as you could. Saying yes to everything.

You didn’t dare say no to anything, in case you might miss an opportunity. Like a freight train… full speed ahead.

You are speeding so fast toward success that you couldn’t see what you are demolishing on the way. You thought you are doing the right thing: grow, grow, grow.

You and your spouse have become roommates. You never see each other, and when you did, you’ll be working and he’d be disconnected, lost in video games or TV. Spending your days searching for fulfillment in all the wrong places.

Your relationship and lifestyle drifting beyond repair. You’ve shoved faith aside in favor of work, and even doubting if there is really God.

The world’s standard of perfect tries to lure us in at every turn. The world makes a lot of promises…

You talked about how busy you are all the time, like it was a badge of honor as if busy equaled successful. Well, you’ve become an expert excuse-maker, quick to reply to invitations to fellowship or church with, “I have to work.”

So good at being in control that God couldn’t get a word in edgewise. Great at living a happy life online so you could escape from the turmoil in that crumbling marriage, relationship or lifestyle.

Have you ever believed any of the world’s lies about success? Read the list below and circle the lies you have believed:

  • If you are perfect, you will be successful.
  • If you have money, you will be happy.
  • If you have fame, you will be loved.
  • If you aren’t the best, you will be a failure.
  • If you aren’t the best, you will be nothing.

What does God’s Word say in contrast to these lies?
For starters, read  Psalm 119:35:
Make me walk along the path of Your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.

God wants you to be put back together. He wants to put your relationship and life together again.

He is the Truth and the Way and the Life.

You don’t need to feel powerless to change it.

But God… But God isn’t a God of logic. He is God.

God doesn’t care about the mistakes you’ve made in the past. He wants your heart.

It’s time to pause and reset your heart. Place God, His presence and His word right at the center. Every other thing can wait! Or else everything may come crashing down.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for saving me from the lies of the enemy. I ask that you uproot every wrong desire in me. I ask that you displace every wrong priority in my heart and life. I enthrone you as King and priority in my life. Not my will O God, but may your will be done. In Jesus Name I Pray.  Amen.
