When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. Luke 24:30-31

Jesus on many occasions “veiled” Himself from those around Him. Three main examples of this exist and if you can take time to read these accounts you will be surprised at what you will find. Jesus concealed Himself from His disciples in John 21. Only after he commanded them to cast their net and they experienced a miraculous haul did they recognize Him! In Luke 24:13-35, Jesus concealed His identity from two heartbroken disciples as they walked on to Emmaus, engaging them in conversation all the way! Only when He broke bread in communion/fellowship did their eyes open to recognize Him! Finally, from Mary, who thought He was a gardener in John 20:15, Jesus hid Himself. Only when He lovingly called her name, “Mary”, did she recognize Him. Beloved, as we celebrate the Season, we need to prayerfully and humbly ask the Lord to reveal Himself to us in deeper dimension. We also should ask Him to reveal Himself to those who do not know Him. In these three instances, Scripture makes it known that it was Jesus that both concealed His true identity and also revealed same. It shows you not only His Sovereignty but also His Grace, for are we not lost if the Master decides to conceal Himself from us? As we speak to people about our Lord, we must also learn to speak to the Lord about these people. Society doesn’t change by mere words, no. Rather people are changed when God’s Light shines upon their hearts. Notice the three situations that urged the revelation of Christ. One was a miracle. Some people need this in order to recognize the Lord. Do you? May the Lord visit you this season with one! For others it was the fellowship of communion. This is why we must keep inviting people to church! Jesus reveals Himself in true Fellowship! Finally, Mary recognized Jesus by the comfort He provided when He called her name. Let us carefully tend to those in troubles and trials, for in showing them Love, Christ reveals Himself! May we have more insight of Jesus!

Open the eyes of my heart Lord! I want to see you high and lifted up, shining in the light of your glory. Pour out your power and love as I worship you today. Let your love be revealed to me, in me and through me in Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
