Understanding Your True Identity
‘Where the word of a king is, there is power;
And who may say to him, “What are you doing?” ‘
– Ecclesiastes 8:4
Here is the truth we have been focusing on for the past few days;
God has made us King…
… and we shall reign on earth.
You are a person regarded as the finest or most important in your purpose field. Your DNA is to be the dominant feature of that field.
While growing up, whenever a young person is embarking on a trip away from home, he/she will be told, ‘Remember the home you are coming from, remember the son/daughter of who you are’.
This truth when taken to heart, guides and informs one’s conduct and approach. Little wonder many a immigrant have performed excellently in foreign territories.
Someone said, when use is unknown, abuse is inevitable. When identity is not known, dysfunction is inevitable.
In Christ, we are grafted into royalty. Not that we qualify like humans in elective post, but like a monarchy, we are born with blue-blood.
Born again means born into royalty, noble birth that is.
In our world today, many derive their confidence and identity from their situation, circumstance, physical environment, bank account or people’s approval rating.
As a child of God, this ought not to be so!
Fashion trends, people’s expectations, family background, nationality, ethnic group, race or marital status does not determine your core identity.
In Christ, you are royalty. Whether you have a fat bank account or a lean purse. Don’t be deflated by lack, neither let abundance becloud you, you are royalty by the grace of God.
This is why Apostle Paul could confidently say, ‘ I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’
– Philippians 4:12-13
You are a king, believe it, think it, meditate on it and live like one.
Dear Heavenly Father, grant me the full revelation of my true identity as a king and priest with you. Help me to understand that my identity in Christ is my real identity in life.
I receive grace to think and live like your king. I shall reign on earth to your glory.
In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
