UNDERSTANDING TIMES & SEASONS SERIES (PART 3)
TOPIC: BUILDING A PREVAILING SPIRIT
Pastor Tokunbo Beulah Johnson (Wednesday, May 28,2014).
In part 2 of the series, we examined: Ecclesiastes 8: 5, (NKJV) which says “He who keeps his command will experience nothing harmful; And a wise man’s heart discerns [know] both time and judgment…”
As we enter deeper into the world’s crisis, we need to become much more connected to God’s Prophetic Word.
THE WORD OF THE PROPHET-
Hosea 12:13 (NIV) “The LORD used a prophet to bring Israel up from Egypt, by a prophet he cared for him.”
The word of the prophets is the specific word spoken through God’s servants in a particular season (It is more than just general nice Christian principles).
2 Peter1:19. We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
– The phrase ‘dark place’ represents the crisis.
– The phrase ‘light shining’ represents the Prophetic Word.
– The phrase ‘Day dawns’ and ‘Morning Star’ represent the hope that comes into your heart as the Prophetic Word finds root deep within our human hearts.
THE BEGINNING OF THE END
Crisis is occurring all over the world because the world is gradually coming to an End, the Finish. The Time is short. Without knowing it, through the crisis, Satan Himself (being a part of God’s Agenda) is speeding up the process of the End Time
(Rev.12:12 ;1 Cor.2:8-10).The time is too short ! (1 Cor.7: 26-31).Therefore, Hold nothing too dear to your heart above eternity life with God.
LIGHT OUT OF DARKNESS:
Genesis1: 1-4: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.
2 Corinthians 4:1-11(note vs 6): Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart.2 Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,”[a] made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body.
Right from the beginning God has always separated Light from Darkness. And now through the Holy Spirit, God is giving the marching order for the Sons of Light to march forward out of the clear and present dangers. Our Lord and King Jesus has promised that “…the gates of hell shall not prevail” against us. (Matt 16:18.)
To prevail and live in light, in the midst of the present crisis we need the following:
1. Possess an Understanding of the times and seasons in which we live.
2. Continually follow God’s Spiritual Support Plan: Evangelism, Apostolic Doctrine, Fellowship, Communion, and Prayer. (Acts 2:40-43.)
3. Live in the Revelation of the Prevailing Word: (Proverbs.4:10-13,18,20-23;3:19-26). The Word will bring life and energize our inner being. (John 6:63.)
4. Be strengthened in our resolve by the Present Day Intercessory Ministry of Jesus through the Holy Spirit- (Rom.8: 18-26,34-39 (Note vs 26,34))
Whenever there is a state of distress/crisis we need to have a specific response to the nature of the time. Believers must not only be aware of the crisis but also know how to prevail in the midst of it. 2 Cor.4: 13-14,16-18(TLB,MSG)
Our heart must be set on Immortality; the unseen realm that is more real than the seen! There is a future Glory for which we must aspire! The fragrance of Christ must be upon us in the day of crisis.
