As the Church, the battle we are fighting is not one against terrorists (they are just symptomatic of a larger problem) but one against Ignorance and lack of Elevated Sight!

Eccl 8:4-6, NKJV

“Where the word of a king is, there is power; And who may say to him, “What are you doing?”

He who keeps his command will experience nothing harmful; And a wise man’s heart discerns /know

Because for every matter there is a time and judgment, Though the misery of man increases greatly.

For he does not know what will happen; So who can tell him when it will occur? ”

The Word ‘discerns or know (Heb: ‘Yada’ in vs 5 means to ascertain by seeing, recognize) both time (season, eternity) and judgment(Heb:mishpat’ i.e judicial decrees, verdict, sentence).

As believers in Christ, living in a world full of crisis, we must possess the wisdom of God so we are able to decode times, seasons and the decreed judgment of the Living God.

We need to know what God is saying in the midst of the present circumstances of our personal lives and nation without going into the two extremes of (i) Spookiness or (ii) Cynicism ((an attitude when you question if something will happen or whether it is worthwhile).

Let us examine what Jesus taught us on how to decode the times and seasons:

PRINCIPLE  #1: Matt. 16 : 1-4.(Note vs 3).The Sign of Jonah.

#1: The fact that the sky is red at both times (Morning and evening) does not mean the season remains the same.

Matt 16:3, NIV

“You know how to interpret (Gk: Diakrinos’ to discern; to separate thoroughly) the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs (Gk: ‘Semeion’ – from semiotics) of the times.”
PRINCIPLE  #2 : Lk 12: 54-56.
‘West’- the direction of the Mediterranean Sea (also known as The Great Sea) where winds come from the sea.
‘South’ – the direction of the Arabia/Eastern Desert where Heat comes from.

#2: Life will bring both wind and heat into your life.
Jesus was saying that everything happening in our nation (whether good or adverse) will have an impact in our life.

PRINCIPLE #3: Mal.3: 6-12,13-15(Ref to vs 16-18)

#3. The Attitude of indifference about spiritual laws (Tithing,Love,Prayer,Miracles, etc) and cynicism about the movings of God’s Spirit(an attitude when you question if something will happen or whether it is worthwhile) makes one lose discernment.

PRINCIPLE #4 : Ps 73:1-20,21-22.

#4. Only when we go into God’s Mindset (the sanctuary, God’s mindset not necessarily a physical place) do we see the big picture and the final destiny of the unrighteous.
Vs 18- The unrighteous will be judged.
Vs 21-22. “I was senseless and Ignorant” (Same word Heb: ‘Yada’ used earlier in Eccle 8:5. which means to know). So the Psalmist was saying in vs 22 that his spirit was pierced and polluted by the troubles of his day only because he did not ‘Yada’ know in the wisdom of God. He lacked discernment.
PRINCIPLE #5: (Vs 26). For your heart not to fail in times of crisis, God has to be the strength of your life.

If we do not have discernment we will be cynical by the extent of terror on the earth today.
We have to become people who are powerfully discerning and know the truth of God in the midst of the crisis in the world.

Then we need to have a prevailing Spirit in this season.
