The ‘A’ in P.R.A.Y

‘You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.’
– James 4:2 (NIV)

Let’s see the acronym P.R.A.Y where P is for PRAISE, R is for REPENT & RENEW, A is for ASK and Y is for YIELD.

Today we look at the A of prayer.

A- Ask. This is the part most of us are used to. To ask is to state your needs, wants or desires clearly and specifically, with no ambiguities. It is to say it the way it is, the pain point, your preferred solution and what your desire.

To Ask effectively, you should BE SPECIFIC.

Zig Ziglar used to say: “If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time.” That’s why vague prayers are inferior to specific ones.

Iterate and list your prayer requests. You will be able to track God’s dealings with you over time.

James 4:2 says: “You do not have because you do not ask.”

Psalm 2:8 says: “Ask of Me, and I will give the nations for Your inheritance.”  We need to learn to ask big. Why would we settle for less when God can do the impossible?

Elisha boldly asked his mentor, Elijah, for a double portion of the Holy Spirit—and God gave him that mantle. God may want to double what you are requesting of Him. His vision for your life is far greater than what you supposed.

Maybe you feel your prayers are not powerful enough. Never mind the technicalities, Ephesians 3:20  says God is able “to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think”. That means after you pray, God adds His own miraculous ingredient.

Your prayers may seem feeble and flawed, but He is able to amplify them.

Like the tiny lunch of five loaves and two fish, Jesus can take something insignificant and feed a multitude. When you pray, expect Him to increase the impact. What you whisper in your closet can shake the world.

In life’s journey, resolve to make PRAYER your FIRST OPTION, not the last resort. The earth answers to a praying man.

This realm is limited but Heaven is unlimited. Stay plugged into the unlimited storehouse of your Father in Heaven.

Dear Heavenly Father, I ask for overflow of prosperity in my life. I ask that I will never be confused again, I will always have clear visions and discerning heart. Bless my skills O Lord, and be pleased with the work of my hands. Strike down those who rise against me, my foes till they rise no more. In Jesus Name. Amen.
