“So the elders of the Jews continued to build and prosper under the preaching of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah, a descendant of Iddo. They finished building the temple according to the command of the God of Israel and the decrees of Cyrus, Darius and Artaxerxes, kings of Persia.” (Ezra 6:14 | NIV)

Truly great nations are either successfully built on the platform of righteousness or vagrantly destroyed by sinfulness and self indulgence of both leaders and her citizenry. Great Britain and the USA will remain great only if they uphold the virtue of godliness and celebrate it. From the days of yore, the true Church has always been the Custodian and Preserver of this value.

As a nation, Nigeria is on a trajectory of change.
These much needed change goes beyond a slogan or aphorism of a political party rather holy men have only spoken out ‘Change’ way back the last decade as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit. And now Change has come! Clearly Nigeria has come to that point where it just cannot be business as usual.

However if the ‘Change’ is going to be sustainable it will require the consistent prophesying of the church over the political class just like in the days when Zerubabel and Joshua served as Governors and Priest over the restored, post-exilic nation of Judah. (For further reading: Ezra 3:1-6; Ezra 5:1,2). The fact remains that the present APC led government has to recognize, curry the favour of and celebrate the Church!

Only by the blessing of the Church, God’s agency of righteousness does a King rule well!
Righteousness exalts a nation, sin only destroys it and brings her into reproach and ignominy.

It doesn’t matter what naysayers say or do to castigate the church and paint her in bad light. Truth is, for Nigeria to succeed in her new track, she needs the blessing and continual prophesying of the Church of God!

Nigeria shall rise again…!
