Shame The Shame
You can gain strength , courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face…You must do the thing which you think you cannot do”
– Eleanor Roosevelt
The greatest story on courage ever told was of Jesus the Christ who looked death in the eye and stood His ground unshaken inspite of contradictions from mankind.
Jesus knew certain death of the cross awaited him yet he endured the pain of the cross and the stigma of death; just as if He were a common criminal.
His resurrection put the final nail on death’s broken power.
And the Son of God rose up from the grave to live forever setting us an example that if we remain courageous and immovable in our lives’ resolve, we too will one day live to tell the tale of courage.
The best rendering for this great act of courage was the original Greek meaning to the passage in the book of Hebrews in describing what Jesus did saying: ‘He shamed shame’.
Look death in the eye!
Hebrews 12:2, NJKV
“looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Dear Lord, do grant me the inner strength to do what I deem hardest to do. May I receive courage by the Holy Spirit to attempt the impossible in Jesus’ Name. Amen
