In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.” “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. n a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear! But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!” And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed, or the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name... Luke 1

Instagram post 2197788119997938327_1583347685 Pray Over Your Children

So here is a pattern of prayer according to Jesus in Mathew chapter six that you can adopt in praying for your children

Our Father in heaven, Your name be honored as holy.

Father, may my children come to know You as their Savior and Lord. May they learn to honor Your name and understand that You alone are holy.

Your kingdom come.
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Father, I plead that until that day of your return I ask that Your will be carried out in the lives of my children. No matter what that entails, no matter where that takes them, and no matter if it makes any sense to me at all, may Your will be done.

Give us today our daily bread.

Thank You for each and every provision that You make in our lives. Help my children to live in abundance and to understand that not one thing comes to us that doesn’t pass through you. Even the very breath that gives us continued life comes from You. May we always be grateful.

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

Thank You for the cancellation of our debts through the atoning death of Your Son. May my children come to know the depth of that sacrifice that was given for them. May they also become adults that know how to forgive and extend grace and love to those in their path.

And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

I know that evil abounds in this world, but I ask Your protection over my children. May they come to know that though the thief comes to steal and destroy and that darkness is prevalent, You are more powerful than all the forces of evil.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Father, I thank You and praise You for all that You are. May our family always bow before the great I AM. May we continually look forward to the day when we will be in Your very presence. It is in Your holy name that I pray, Amen.

However, you choose to pray for your children, just know that when you do this, it is a sweet fragrance to the Lord. He loves to talk to you about your children. He is there in the struggles and He’s also there celebrating each milestone with you.

God Is Never Late ' Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that God will give you whatever you ask.” '
- Luke 11:21-22 (NLT)

Where were you?

It’s a question we’ve all asked of somebody. Their absence or tardiness left us feeling abandoned, helpless, confused, and angry. If the stakes were high, we wondered if that person actually cared about us at all. Those moments when someone I depended on let me down have left me feeling helpless. When friends forget to call. When a trusted colleague doesn’t deliver. When a teammate doesn’t show up.

When the one who fails to show up as expected is God, it does more than disappoint. It can knock your faith off the rails.

Mary and Martha felt this way about Jesus when their brother Lazarus got sick and died. Jesus, their friend, was not far away, and they had sent an urgent message for Him to come straightaway.

So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, He stayed where He was two more days. — John 11:6

They waited. And waited. And Lazarus died. Then Jesus showed up. He offered no excuse.

Why hadn’t He come? Didn’t He love them? They thought He did. Everyone referred to Lazarus as the one Jesus loved (John 11:3). Did He not care after all?

Haven’t you felt this way? These are the questions that almost every Christ-follower asks as they pass through a dark valley: Where are You, God? Why haven’t You come? If You had been here... I wouldn’t have failed. My parents wouldn’t have gotten divorced. I wouldn’t have gotten so hurt. My wife wouldn’t have died.

Jesus’s tardiness in coming to Lazarus was not due to a lack of care. As Jesus would explain, God had orchestrated this situation for a greater purpose — to reveal His glory through His control and ultimate victory over all things (John 11:4). I’ll go ahead and give you the punchline: Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead. But along the way, Jesus teaches us what faith in a really big and sovereign God looks like.

He’s not late because He doesn’t care. He’s late because He’s up to something greater. (Adapted from Not God Enough by J. D. Greear)

- Daniel 9:19 (NKJV)

Have you read the story about the 85-year-old man who was arrested for praying?

You probably have. That’s the story of Daniel, an elderly Jewish resident in Babylon sentenced to death for faithfully talking to God (Dan. 6). Although the prayer that sent Daniel to the lions’ den is his most famous talk with God (6:11), it wasn’t the only time we see him in prayer.

In Daniel 9, we read an example of how he prayed. Daniel had been reading in his scroll of Jeremiah that the captivity of his people would last 70 years, and the people were 67 years into the exile (Jer. 25:8-11). He was eager for it to end.

God had called His people to live righteously, but they weren’t doing that. Daniel decided to live righteously despite the lack of faith of the majority of the Jewish nation. He began to pray that God would not delay the end of the captivity.

As he prayed, Daniel focused on worship and confession. His pattern of prayer gives us an important insight into talking to God.

We are to recognize that God is “great and awesome” (v.4) and that “we have sinned” (v.15). In prayer, we praise and confess.

Let’s follow Daniel’s lead. To him, prayer was as vital as life itself.

What privilege is mine to come
Before the Father’s throne,
To speak to Him in earnest prayer,
Make all my wishes known.
—Sherbert

No one stands as tall as a Christian on his/her knees.

PRAYER CONFESSION

O Lord, according to all Your righteousness, I pray, let Your anger and Your fury be turned away from this nation, Nigeria; because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Nigeria and her people are a reproach to all those around us.

O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name.” In Jesus’s name, I pray, Amen.
