Here is your Quiet In The Storm Read for Today:
Let Go and Let God
” Be strong. Take courage. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you.”
– Deuteronomy 31:6 (MSG)
Do you remember how reassuring it was for an older person to follow you when you needed to take that horrible midnight “pee” as a child? Every child would be instantly comforted by the fact that an adult (daddy oftentimes) would “go with me to pee”.
The child suddenly loses interest in all “matters of security” and focuses on the journey to the loo to handle “business”. The security matters instantly becomes the responsibility of the accompanying adult and the child immediately after simply climbs back to bed and usually nods off (or asks for food and TV…).
Such a carefree attitude is borne from absolute confidence in the adult to “handle” masquerades or hidden monsters lurking in the dark corridors. Such is the type of faith that moves God, but somehow for us adults it’s so hard to just “let go and let God”.
Consider Deut 31:6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
As straightforward as this text is, it is unfortunate that it is so hard for us as adults to believe. No wonder Jesus asked us to have hearts like kids.
We must keep the word right before our eyes so that it may change us from within and make us stronger people able to grasp, believe and receive of His Mighty promises. Amen.
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for the covenant I have with you through Christ. I step into 2016 with boldness and courage because I know you are striding ahead of me. Grant unto me a willing and obedient heart as I take possession of my Inheritance in this new year. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
