Purpose Driven Life
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed and commissioned me
To bring good news to the humble and afflicted;
He has sent me to bind up [the wounds of] the brokenhearted,
To proclaim release [from confinement and condemnation] to the [physical and spiritual] captives And freedom to prisoners,
To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance and retribution of our God, To comfort all who mourn,…”
– Isaiah 61:1-2 (AMP)
This is a very profound scripture. The verse opens with a declaration on the reason why God’s Spirit was upon Christ. The Holy Spirit was upon Him because He was commissioned for a task.
The implication? There is a purpose for every blessing of God. The empowerment is not a show-off, it is for the fulfillment of a divine task or Assignment.
Many times we seek God for an empowerment from on high and yet live with no purpose and direction. We mix it up and get the order all wrong.
To enjoy God’s full power, we must be on assignment.
Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.
The believer who will enjoy God’s presence and Power must first admit that he has been appointed for a task and stay committed to same.
Little wonder the Bible testifies of Joseph in Genesis 39:2 “And the LORD was with Joseph…”.
Why was the Lord with Joseph? Jump a few verses to Genesis 39:11 “And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business…”
Every man who desires to carry a measure of God’s Presence and Power must be a person on assignment. Let no idle man think he will carry the mantle of God’s power.
We should live with the mindset that our God-given gifts, talents, blessings, and empowerment are not for self-indulgence but rather they are tools for fulfilling the great commission and divine agenda.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for The Holy Spirit of God resides in me. I know and I declare
I am anointed and commissioned to bring good news to the humble and afflicted.
I am chosen and sent to proclaim the wonderful works of God.
I am diligent and purpose driven to bring glory to God.
Today and forever more. In Jesus Name. Amen.
