Scripture says “The Secret things (or mysteries) belong to our God, but the things revealed belong to us…” (Deut 29:29).

Great Inheritances are mysteries. Unless revealed by a father through a will, many children never get to know what is rightfully theirs. Other times, some children by arduous asking, stumble upon their inheritance. Sometimes they have to battle it out before they can lay claim to it.

However one chooses to look at it, we must all agree that hardly ever will a docile beneficiary really enter into true inheritance. This is why Jesus said we should “Ask and it will given to us, seek and we will find, knock and the door shall be open to us!” (Matt 7:7). The responsibility of the seeker is to seek. The responsibility of the one in need is to ask.

Many times, people of spiritual infancy say, “God knows all things. He knows my needs and if He thinks I really need this He will provide it. He doesn’t really need me to ask Him for it“. This is actually untrue. Part of the test of sincerity of the receiver is his commitment to ask. Even the so called “mysteries” of God, the “secrets” of heaven are available for His children.

Daniel further says that God “reveals the deep and secret (mysterious) things” (Dan 2:22), but to whom does He reveal it? To the ones who ask-the true seekers. No wonder Peter, boldly approached Jesus in Matthew 15:15 saying, “…Please unveil (reveal) the hidden meaning of this parable to us…”.

Jesus always told them parables, which were supernatural mysteries in story form which unveiled and exposed Divine Truth and Secrets to the listener. Only Peter was bold enough to ask for the revelation of the mystery embedded in the Parable.

Beloved, the truth is God is at work every moment, working out His purpose and will across the length and breadth of the Universe. We may not always understand what He is doing, but He will speak to us as it relates and concerns our affairs, if we will take a moment like Peter to approach Him as honestly as possible. He loves to tell His children what He is up to. He loves to reveal His plans to His friends. 1 Cor 2:10, Paul says, “These are the things revealed to us by His Spirit...”, God further declares in Gen 18:17, “… shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do…?”.

Its a season of truly open heavens. Let us press in as thirsty children seeking truth such that we can enter into the fullness of our Great Inheritance.

Dear God, I ask that my eyes of understanding be flooded with the light of revelation today. My ears be inclined to the voice of the Spirit. Lord, reveal to me the pathway to the unique great inheritance you have for me this year and beyond in Jesus Name. Amen.
