Make A Habit of Thanking God
“My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for He has been mindful of the humble state of His servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me — holy is His name.”
— Luke 1:46-49
Reading through the book of Exodus in the bible, you will see clearly that the concept of Thanksgiving seemed to escape the early Israelites. They had been delivered from bondage in Egypt by God’s supernatural power, yet within days, they had apparently forgotten. They began blaming God for delivering them from Egypt so they could die in the desert.
Then God again exerted His mighty power and divided the Red Sea so they could go across safely. And when they became hungry and began to whine again, God sent them fresh manna every morning!
Unfortunately, as they kept going in this cycle of ingratitude, they got wiped out. They never entered their promised land.
It’s November 2018. Less than 60 days to the end of the calendar year.
You may feel like, where is the restoration? where is the promise land? Things are falling short in your plans, goals, and aspirations.
Don’t sigh rather rejoice and give God thanks.
Maybe you wanted this year to get going faster but it has been rather slow. Don’t get agitated, Give God thanks.
It could be that you are on a roll, things are falling into place so fast. You are like ‘hitting the bull’s eye’ on every project so far. Don’t get complacent, Give God thanks
Choose to lead your emotions. Deliberately call to mind what God has done for you recently. Surely, He has been faithful.
Psalm 42:4 says,
These things I remember as I pour out my soul…with shouts of joy and thanksgiving.
Remember, nothing grows in your hands until you give thanks. So choose to focus on what you have and thank God.
Dear God, I give you thanks for all you have done and for all you are going to do. I lift my hands in praise. I give you thanks, I give you praise for I know your grace is sufficient for me and all things are working together for my good. Be exalted Lord today and forever more. In Jesus Name.
