“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
– Luke 6:38
The verse above has been used severally and many have twisted its meaning for selfish benefits without taking into cognizance the ‘b’ part of the text.
What then is the key to unraveling this text?
First, It’s not just about money, this verse in its context talks to living, character, and lifestyle. Read Luke 6:37-42
Secondly, it is in realizing that we are expected not just to receive but to give in good measure!
We are also to give pressed down or compacted and shaken together.
And we are finally to give more than we have been asked to give! This is what running over means.
Now, it is our openness to give our all in whatever we set our minds to do that gives us a true covenant position to receive the manifold and many-sided blessings of God.
What does this text mean to you?
Give your all today and when you do, add a little bit more.
In Jesus Name I declare, I give abundantly because I have an understanding of my call as a giver. I will not relent, pretend or regress in my giving. My reward is coming in dynamic measures to the praise and glory of the One who gave Himself up for me, even Jesus Christ. Amen.
