Recovery Of SightImmediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, – Acts 9:18
The Scriptures are incredible! The deeper pressing into Christ via His Word, liberates from fear, and introduces the seeker to light and liberty! Acts 9 speaks of Paul’s incredible conversion. Notice that though not physically blind, Paul could not SEE the truth of Christ and as such could not respond to it. God had to take away the “scales” from his eyes before his spirit could respond to the message of truth (v18). Jesus came to “…proclaim freedom for the prisoner and recovery of sight to the blind…” (Luke 4:14-20). He did not just mean physical blindness alone. He meant something more deeper and darker. Something that keeps even the most prominent and learned of men away from embracing the gospel. Jesus knew that the people He was sent to were blind because the “…god of this age has blinded their minds, such that they being in darkness and cut off from the good news cannot embrace the radiance of His Light, Christ, the image of God..” (2 Cor 4:4). Too many of us, in trying to get others to believe in our message, appeal to the “logic” in men. Human reasoning may appreciate advanced calculus, but fail to assimilate the simple & obvious message of the cross, because the message of the cross isn’t logically discerned. It is spiritually imparted! Beloved, this is the season to remember friends and family members who may not know the Lord. This is the time to pray to the Lord to reveal Himself and deliver them of blindness. This is when to pray, in this season where we acknowledge Christ, that the yoke of blindness be broken from their lives. Just as Paul, though “righteous” in his own estimation was still lost and needing help, so also, many of those we even consider “good” people need help. We all do! So stop judging them, stop appealing to their logic, and start interceding for Light, true Light to set them free from darkness so that like Paul they too can embrace the King and His Kingdom! It is a work of Grace!
In Jesus Name I ask that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give my fiends, family members, neighbours and colleagues the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that they may know him better. I pray that the eyes of their hearts may be enlightened in order that they may know the hope of salvation. Amen
