Quiet In The Storm Daily Devotional

Date: 7 June, 2014

Scripture Reading: “To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again.10 Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you. – Isaiah 54:9-10

Isn’t it amazing that such a great God would leave a weak and unfaithful species like ours with precious promises to live by? Isn’t it simply humbling to look at our frailty and recognize that despite our shortcomings the Creator and Possessor of Heaven and Earth would affiliate Himself with us? Even the writer in Proverbs asked this “What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him? (Psalm 8:4) Why does the Lord Care for us? Could it be because He Sees Himself in us? After all in Acts 17:29 God’s Word declares “Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God…”. For whatever reason, He has chosen to love us unconditionally and He has given us promises as proof of this love. Let us receive one of them today. Jesus said in John 14:18 “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you…”. This is such a reassuring statement and we all need to latch onto it. In times like this when hearts are failing we need to hear this over and over again! With evil reports all over the news, with tales of crime, hunger, poverty and despair so prevalent, how reassuring it is to hear these words in the very voice of Jesus. Be still and quiet for a moment….if you can, close your eyes, and see Jesus with you….right there in the midst of all the challenges staring you in the face…hear His Sweet Sure Voice saying to you..”I will not leave you without comfort….I will come to you and I will take the pain away…”. Your situation may be calling you out, mocking you, saying to you “Is there no balm (comfort) in Gilead? is there no physician (comforter) there? why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered (Jeremiah 8:22). It is now time to reply the enemy with great Faith in God’s Word! Say boldly…”There is a Comforter! His Name is Jesus and He has come to me to help me!” Beloved, get up from the place of discouragement. Your breakthrough is knocking at the door. Go let Him in. Your Comforter has come to you! Receive from Him the breakthrough you desire today! Shalom.

In Jesus Name I declare I am not without comfort, I have a comforter indeed. The Lord has come to help me! I am delivered from every sickness and infirmity. In as much as I am the offspring of God, I live in wholeness, I live in power, I live in wisdom, i experience breakthroughs today and always. Amen.
