Clothed With God
“But the Spirit of the Lord clothed Gideon with Himself and took possession of him, and he blew a trumpet, and [the clan of] Abiezer was gathered to him”. Judges 6:34 (AMP)
You will never fully appreciate God’s power until it answers for you. Our human nature constantly points us to our weak and failing selves. We keep trying to show that we can do it if we work harder and try better.
Frankly though, we can’t. Of course there are certain things we will of our own be able to accomplish, but truth be told when the chips are down we see for ourselves that “…the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill…” (Eccl 9:13).
I don’t know about you, but I would like to receive a type of blessing that will seem too good to be true. Amazing testimonies are always opportunities to share your faith with others.
I need such amazing testimonies this year that will cause me to say “…This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes” (Psalm 118:23).
Gideon experienced this type of testimony as he struggled to lead God’s people. Consider how God changed his experience in the verse quoted above. How would it be for God to “clothe” you with Himself? Think about this all day today…to be “clothed” with God.
Tell me, what challenge do you think stops a man clothed with God?
What power of Satanic extraction can contain him?
What plotting or scheming by men can overcome the one “wrapped” in God as a blanket?
Don’t be too “earthly” in your thinking. You might have heard so much criticism about your weaknesses that you have become bound to the earth…carnal, fearful, full of worry, defeat-minded!
Yet you are in the age of the Power of The Holy Ghost! Lift your head child of God and embrace your maker! Understand and Appreciate who you are in Him!
Gideon was so full of faults he was the least qualified to lead God’s army, but God clothed Him with Power. Notice it did not say that Gideon “clothed himself with the Spirit of the Lord”, No. This was a work of Grace. God qualifying the called. God making the move and man responding.
Do you believe that He has called you for this time? Then trust Him to clothe you in what it takes to succeed.
Dear Heavenly Father, wrap me with your presence and take over my being. I surrender my spirit, soul and body to you. Let my life be the display of the glory and majesty of God this year in Jesus Name. Amen.
