All Women Need Fathers

The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’  for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.”
– Genesis 2:23, 24(NIV)

It’s a common scenario: Wedding bell rings, bride appears clutching the hand of a male (her father who brings her to the altar) and the officiating minister asks ‘Who giveth this bride…”; the man hands her over to the officiating minister who then hands her over to the groom who is to affirm, cherish and nourish her. Literally her groom becomes her father.

The truth is a woman is designed to forever need a father! Women never leave their fathers!

Besides only a man is expected by scriptures to leave his father …and cleave to his wife to become one flesh.

As her “father”, a husband must choose forgiveness and understanding over being vindictive of his wife.

He must choose wisdom and love over being judgmental of her. He must choose patience and tenderness over coercion and force.

This is how he gets to bring the best out of her even to his own benefit. This is how he earns lasting respect and fierce commitment from her.

It is a responsibility and a trust

This fathering is required daily of him by God, his own Heavenly Father!

Our father in heaven we ask you to help our nation such that fathers will rise up and protect their homes and communities. May we have leaders who will have a father’s heart. May fathers live a life that is pleasing to God, be worthy of emulation, and point the way to salvation in Christ.
In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
