A Time To Remember

” Early the next morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on top of it…”
– Genesis 28:18
It is good to regularly bring into remembrance the people and moments that have positively impacted our lives the most (Genesis 40:23- The chief cupbearer, however, did not remember Joseph; he forgot him).. God uses these “opportunities” to guide us into our “open heavens”. They ought not to be forgotten easily and quickly.

Jacob waking from a life changing dream built an altar to commemorate that experience he renamed the place Bethel (formerly Luz) and Bethel was subsequently referred to 59 more times in the Bible as a point of change and grace.

People of heritage keep an account of the opportunities that God sends their way. Don’t be hasty to move

away from those Patriarchs and Matriarchs that guided you into your place of rest.

Today many enjoy and celebrate who you have become but they were not part of the making process. So go back to that altar and pour fresh oil on it. Thank God for the people He sent your way, reach out to them, honor them by your testimonies and celebrate their impact in your life. They may be old, they may not even remember, but you are a living evidence of what God used them to do in your life.

Let’s not be like the butler who had an encounter with Joseph and promptly forgot him

Thank God for the experiences you went through, some fun, some hard, others painful, but all necessary to “make” you. Romans 8:28-30 (PHILLIPS) … to those who love God… everything that happens fits into a pattern for good.

Enter into a time of remembrance and pour oil on all your altars!

Dear God, I thank you for all you have taken me through. I thank you for the people that you have planted as helpers in my pathway. I thank you for the encounters and experiences I have had over the past years. I will forever be grateful. May your name be exalted forever in my life. In Jesus Name. Amen.
