Don’t Build A House of Cards

“But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”
– James 1:25 (NKJV)

There is a popular saying that “there are two sides to a coin.” It is either head or tail. You are either for or against, in or out.

You are either building to last or building a house of cards.

Jesus Christ, a great storyteller, shared a deep insight with us in one of His many stories. If you have ever attended Sunday school while growing up, you’ll be familiar with this parable. Let’s read Matthew 7 verses 24, 25, 26 and 27 in the message translation;

“These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit—but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock.

“But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don’t work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach. When a storm rolled in and the waves came up, it collapsed like a house of cards.”

The human strategy is a sinking sand, it inevitably builds a house of cards.
However, The Holy Spirit of God is the fundamental factor of how to build to last.

Beloved, be careful to always build by the Spirit of God. Don’t build a house of cards, rather continue to build on the solid rock of divine encounters anchored on prophetic scriptures.

Always Get God first. No matter what comes your way this year, your increase is guaranteed. It’s your year of restoration of all things.

In Jesus Name I declare I am not a forgetful hearer, I am not a playful hearer, I am a doer. I build my life with the building blocks of God’s word.
Dear Holy Spirit, help me to pattern my life according to the will of God for Jesus Name. Amen.
