Be At Peace
And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
– Exodus 14:13-14 (NKJV)
The conductor climbed on the stage. The orchestra was ready. The 9th Symphony of Beethoven had been practiced by this group over and over and played in countless arenas. They were ready to give a magical rendition, however, there was a challenge.
They were about to make this rendition before a motley audience of convicted felons…and boy they were so rowdy! People kept walking up and down, some complaining of the heat, others angrily chatting away.
This concert was supposed to be a source of inspiration to the felons but how could they begin playing with all of this ruckus? Finally, the hall quietens down…the conductor raises his stick and sweet melody bellows forth to the amazement of the audience.
This is how we are sometimes, too distracted with the latest news of terrible events, complaining about the economy, fearful of our safety. We run from event to event, friend to friend, programme to programme, too busy to sit still for God to perform.
God wants to do something in our lives, but He needs us to be still and quiet, trusting His word with our eyes full of expectation, focused on Him.
Can you do that this week?
Can you be quiet and listen and focus on His word and in prayer and thanksgiving wait on Him?
Enough complaining, enough running around, enough fretful apprehension. Be at peace and look to Him…and let Him Perform for you!
Down at your feet, O Lord is the most High Place. I rest in the assurance that you are more than able to fix my life. Kindly take over the wheel of my life, I hand it all over to you in Jesus Name. Amen
